FEBRUARY - FOOD AND WINE LOVERS
Artistic, sensual and sacred passions unite in Babette's Feast. Onthe desolate coast of Denmark live Martina and Philippa, the beautiful daughters of a devout clergyman who preaches salvation through self-denial. A kind bookseller and the abused wife (Helen Mirren) of a crude Mafia crime lord make love in the wife's favorite ritzy gourmet restaurant under the watchful eye of the cook who, in turn, has his own fantasies about the wife. This sensual drama is as erotic and beautiful as it is violent and disturbing. The husband literally gets his just desserts in the stomach-turning finale.
